CARSON, Los Angeles County — October 25, 2026. Carson residents who hear about new warehouses, housing, energy facilities or commercial construction can check their status in the city’s public “What’s Happening in Development” directory. The page separates proposals under review from projects already approved, under construction and completed—an important distinction when judging claims about neighborhood changes.

What the city says is under review

In its official project tracker, the City of Carson lists Griffith Street BESS Development among projects under review. BESS stands for battery energy storage system. The same group includes the SyWest Development, 21530 Martin Street, 18101 Avalon Boulevard, 138 West 223rd Street and a Chevron Gas Use Expansion entry. Being listed as under review is not evidence of final approval.

Approved projects are a separate category

Carson’s approved-project list includes Perry Street Residences, the Carson Triangle, the ASPCA Animal Clinic, Avocet BESS and a proposed Carson-to-Paramount hydrogen gas pipeline. The city’s classifications should be read as the status in its own tracker; an approved project may still require additional regulatory steps or might not have started construction.

The city separately lists Carson Lofts, a 32-unit Birch Specific Plan residential project and other sites as under construction. Residents seeking details on traffic, environmental review or the scope of a particular property should follow the original project documents rather than treating the category page as a comprehensive environmental assessment.

How to participate

City project listings can change as new filings, hearings and decisions occur. Check the Carson meeting agendas and minutes for current notices, and the city’s public records information for relevant documents. The city indicates that Los Angeles County provides building-permit services for Carson, making it especially important to use the correct responsible agency.
