CARSON, LOS ANGELES COUNTY — NOVEMBER 5, 2026. Carson’s District 4 City Council contest is close in the unofficial county-results table: John Hollaway has 2,550 votes (50.59%) and Arleen Bocatija Rojas has 2,491 (49.41%). The gap is 59 votes out of 5,041 candidate votes in the displayed results.
Separate from District 2
Carson voters also chose a representative for Council District 2, where Jim Dear has 3,720 votes and Derek Haskell Jr. 1,177 in the same published table. These are different districts, and their totals should not be combined. The city also voted on Measure CU, a separate ballot measure.
What could change
With a margin of 59 ballots, post-election verification deserves close attention. Eligible mail ballots, provisional ballots and corrections can still affect unofficial returns. A small lead does not automatically mean a recount has been ordered, and the reported margin does not establish a certified winner.
Where to find the official figures
Los Angeles County publishes countywide and municipal results through its election portal. Readers should watch the time of any later update rather than compare different media snapshots without context.
